HATE GROUPS ARE ON THE RISE, SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER FINDS | The number of hate groups and antigovernment organizations “in the nation has continued to grow, according to a report released Wednesday by the Southern Poverty Law Center.” At least 1,018 hate groups were operating last year, SPLC found, while the “number of groups whose ideology is organized against specific racial, religious, sexual or other characteristics has risen steadily since 2000, when 602 were identified, the center said. Antigay groups, for example, have risen to 27 from 17 in 2010″:

The 10 Terrible Provisions of Obamacare You May Not Have Heard Of.Obamacare includes such a variety and volume of negative policies that it’s hard to keep track of them all. Here is a list of 10 terrible provisions that every American should be aware of:

  1. It increases taxes on families earning over $250,000. In 2013, the employee portion of the Medicare payroll tax will increase from 1.45 percent to 2.35 percent for families earning $250,000 or more and individuals earning $200,000 or more. The income threshold is not indexed for inflation, so more and more middle-income families will be hit by the tax hike as time goes on.
  1. It adds a new tax to investment income. The increased payroll tax rate is also applied to high-earners’ investment income for the first time beginning in 2013. It will hit capital gains, dividends, rents, and royalties, discouraging investment and harming economic growth.
  2. It puts new limitations on those with HSAs and FSAs. Starting in 2012, Obamacare restricts the products that consumers may purchase with a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Savings Account (FSA)—such as over-the-counter medications—and increases the penalty for such non-qualified uses of HSAs. It also limits the amount taxpayers may deposit into an FSA to $2,500 a year in 2013.
  3. It adds a new tax on those who purchase medical devices. In 2013, a 2.3 percent excise tax will be applied to medical devices, causing a $28.5 billion tax hike on medical device manufacturers. The industry will pay for this tax by reducing jobs and passing additional costs on to consumers.
  4. It penalizes marriage. Obamacare creates new taxpayer-funded subsidies for the low and middle classes to purchase health coverage, but the structure of the subsidies allows two individuals to claim more in subsidies alone than if married. This discriminates against married couples and discourages marriage at almost all age and income levels.
  5. It violates religious liberty. The Department of Health and Human Services included the full range of contraceptives, including abortion-inducing drugs, among the women-specific preventive services that Obamacare requires insurers to include with no cost-sharing. This mandate violates Americans’ conscience rights and religious liberty. Its narrow exemption for religious employers will force many who find these products morally objectionable—including religious charities, hospitals, and schools—to pay for them.
  6. It puts Medicare decisions in the hands of an unelected board. The Independent Payment Advisory Board, a board of 15 unelected officials, will have the power to cut Medicare spending without congressional approval. These unaccountable government appointees will be able to restrict seniors’ access to providers, treatments, and services.
  7. It puts a premium tax on health insurers. Obamacare adds a premium tax on health insurers that offer full coverage beginning in 2014. On average, the tax is expected to increase premiums by 1.9 percent to 2.3 percent in 2014 and between 2.8 percent and 3.7 percent by 2023. Combined with the other provisions in Obamacare, this tax will have a huge impact on the cost of premiums.
  8. It creates a new unsustainable entitlement program. On top of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, Obamacare created a new long-term care entitlement called the CLASS program. It is actuarially unsound, unworkable, and unsustainable. As a result, the Administration has already put its implementation “on hold.”
  9. It puts over half of all Americans on a government program. Because of Obamacare’s huge expansion of Medicaid and creation of taxpayer-funded subsidies to purchase health coverage, more than half of all Americans will be dependent on a government health care program (Medicare, Medicaid, or the government exchanges) by the end of this decade.

Social Security Press Office: Patty Duke Turns 65, Applies Online for Social Security and Medicare benefits

After years of telling people they can apply online for Social Security in their pajamas, Patty Duke has taken her own advice.  Duke, who turns 65 today, applied online for retirement and Medicare benefits from home atwww.socialsecurity.gov.

“I had no idea this would be such a momentous occasion,” said Duke, who for three years has volunteered her time promoting Social Security’s online services in numerous Public Service Announcements (PSAs) and media interviews.  In a new online video, Duke puts character acting aside and shows everyone what happened when she and her husband Mike Pearce sat down at the kitchen table, turned on their laptop, and applied for her retirement and Medicare benefits.

“All of us at Social Security wish Patty a very happy birthday,” said Michael J. Astrue, Commissioner of Social Security.  “She’s a Hollywood legend and an American treasure who reaches a very important milestone today.  True to form, she is the one giving us the birthday present by showing her fellow baby boomers the easiest way to apply for benefits.”The Patty Duke Show

In 2009, Duke reprised her roles as the identical cousins, Patty and Cathy Lane from the Patty Duke Show, for a series of PSAs promoting Social Security’s online services.  In 2010, Duke teamed up with the surviving Patty Duke Show cast members for an additional set of spots.  Earlier this year, she teamed up with entertainment icon George Takei to encourage people of all ages to “Boldly Go” to www.socialsecurity.gov.  In the three years since Duke has volunteered her time with Social Security, millions of people have visited the agency’s website and the percentage of online retirements has more than doubled.

“While I just applied for retirement benefits, I’m not retiring from being a Social Security spokesperson,” Duke says.  “I urge my fellow baby boomers to go online to www.socialsecurity.gov.  If you’re not sure how to get started on the computer, ask a loved one to help you out.  I did, and it was so easy.”

Let’s Talk Medicare Advantage

November 9th 2009

{ABOVE ALL ELSE READ THE BOOK }

Those of us who qualify for the Medicare Advantage Program are receiving our Medicare and you 2010 handbook. This year above all else the Knowledge we don’t have will Kill us. So From now until we get the coverage equality we deserve I will be talking to you about various MUST NO’S for America’s elderly and disabled

May 2009 I no longer qualified for my Company Insurance and was Placed on Medicare. Having worked since I was 12 (babysitting) and paid into this healthcare system for more than 20 years.  I think that the American People should know that we all have paid an extra $1,000 yearly toward the coverage of the Needy and Underinsured. For me that calculation is$7,000 yearly over 14 yrs  which equals $98,ooo of that $14,000 was taken without my knowledge. It was even called A Hidden tax.

But, the Government both Democrats and Republicans knew this was and continues to this day to be the Norm or  “status quo” and when you add up what insurance and hospital lobbyist have paid our Government Officials over that same time frame my small donation is peanuts. It was almost bragged about  approx 6 million dollars and rising has been paid  just this Year.

(They don’t seem to be in a recession) The Real big Money will come out for the Senate and all this to keep Medicare Advantage Seniors Paying and Paying. So why are they really working so hard to Not give the American People the same coverage they have?

Perhaps the fact that the Major 2 or 3 Insurance Companies have Corporate locations in many of the Republican and even some of the so-called blue dog democrat (all for one and one for all? ) States. Let’s just imagine the campaign contributions they could be receiving. For example I pulled this off the  United Healthcare information website. Make’s me wonder about how many more years The People will accept being lied to.

For purposes of this Notice of Privacy Practices, “we” or “us” refers to the following UnitedHealthcare

WHERE DO I FIT IN THE PLAN

The Reality Of Medicare so-called Reform

My life took a drastic change February 14th 2005. The new’s that was on my television looked strange. I wear glasses so after placing them on my face the news still didn’t look quite right but, the time had gotten away from me and the drive to work usually took at least 20 minutes. I got myself in the car and backed out of the driveway. Something I later called sea sickness set in and I pulled over to steady myself.
By the grace of GOD I made it to work in one piece. After getting to my cubicle and booting up my computer I again noticed the screen did not look right it was blurry and strangely black. The next moment i was convulsing in my trash can. Thinking that I had the flu (not bird or pig) fear set in because i could not stop vomiting and now my equilibrium was acting up so I was very dizzy. Diarrhea started next and I panicked.
An angel of a coworker drove me home and I went to bed. Was I dying? Stop acting like a baby I told myself it’s just the flu. The next Morning when I awaken I was completely blind in my right eye.
Frightened more than ever in my life the thoughts came flooding in will i ever see the same or at all? what do i do now who can help me. Since it was my eye i went to see my eye doctor who after an examination he immediately referred me to a specialist and I was really terrified especially since the doctor did not charge me for the exam.
A Thank-You here is necessary to the entire PDX INC Family for the care and concern they all showed me up to and including driving me to the doctors and getting me food and what ever my family needed but the biggest thank you is for the insurance I was Blessed to have. Until then I complained about it thinking ever so ignorantly that my company could have done better my copay’s could have been less etc etc.
Well the specialist sent me through a barrier of tests and told me he thought I should prepare for the diagnosis of something called MS. What in the world was that and is it fatal?? He refers me to a neurologist who also sent me through a barrage of tests all of which included needles.
The only 2 tests that can accurately determine that you do or don’t have MS is an MRI and Spinal Tap. At 48 years old I had not ever had either of those. The words Multiple Sclerosis had not even been heard of in my family. After almost throwing up all over the MRI machine and having my sister verbally slap me into submission we covered my eyes with a very cold towel and I prayed my way through it, The spinal tap was another whole issue, I cried like a baby and had to be held down.
February 18th 2004 My road to Medicare began My companies insurance generously covered me until 2009 when Medicare took over and this is where the real nightmare begins I currently take more than 7 medications daily And one of which I must give my self three times a week by injection.
This particular medication is for relapsing remitting (long word for it happens when you least expect it) MS. $2,000 plus this medication alone puts me in something called the Gap
(short for all my prescriptions are full price) One month I’m paying $25.00 three months later I am paying $2,000 Who thought this could ever happen to me? Worked 14 yrs in the same place paid my taxes went to church took care of the poor etc etc Now what do I do? I scrapped together all I could to get as much of the needed medication.
Each month Our Family 0f 11 struggles however the needs are mounting especially for our 8 children who live in my home. My daughter and grandchildren live with me and help to keep me alive believe it or not.
Just keeping electric, food and water on and now I cannot even begin get the medicine at regular prices. Okay now what? MR. CONGRESS MEN and all those who think it won’t happen to them NOW WHAT! GO WITHOUT AND DIE IS THAT MY OPTION??
